Elegant Early Autumn Wedding at Oglebay Resort | Krista+Chris

Krista and Chris’s early fall wedding at Oglebay Resort was the perfect blend of classic wedding, beautiful outdoor scenery and a banger party. From their relaxed engagement session at Frick Park to their elegant wedding day, we truly loved working with them!

Chris and Krista met back in July of 2018. Krista was out wedding dress shopping with her best friend. After her friend said yes to the dress they headed to brunch to celebrate. Meanwhile Chris was off for the weekend and had decided to go to brunch with his friends as well. Somehow they both decided to brunch at Local in the Southside of Pittsburgh. Krista saw an old friend at the bar who happened to be there with Chris, she went over to say hello and after a minute of chatting Jeff went back to his fiancé, so Chris and Krista just started chatting. Since it was girls' day she told him she had to go, saying it was nice to meet him and walked away. She stopped a few feet away and turned back to him and said "well are you going to get my number?" Chris ended up texting her the next day. Due to their hectic schedules their first date didn't happen for almost a month after that day but during that time they chatted everyday. Krista recalls “Our first date was a Pirate Game and the rest is history!”

The proposal happened in June during Chris’ one weekend he gets off work per month. He had asked Krista if she wanted to have a fire that weekend and she was up for it. But he also wanted to take their two dogs to the park earlier in the day; however, due to the one being so young at the time, Krista didn't feel comfortable taking him to the park. She admits she ruined that proposal plan! Their next idea was to take the dogs down to the waterfront. For some reason Chris was adamant on going at noon. So the day finally arrived and the forecast was looking very rainy. Krista kept urging Chris to just go earlier in the day to beat the rain. They end up heading to the waterfront for lunch with his sister instead and have a few drinks before leaving to get firewood and beer for the fire later that night. On the way to the beer distributor Krista notices something in his pocket that looks like a ring box. She remembers thinking “in my head I’m like there's no way that's a ring box, omg there's no way, everythings fine, I'm being crazy.” When they arrive home, Chris quickly walks into the garage and Krista takes her time following behind. Once he reached the door he turned to grab Krista’s hand. He then walked her into their finished basement and got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. She turned around and saw two of their friends recording and taking photos. She said yes! They all started walking up stairs and Krista had asked if anyone was there. Once she got to the top of the stairs all of their closest family and friends yelled congratulations. They spent the night eating and drinking and celebrating with everyone, as Krista says “It was perfect!”

Their elegant early fall wedding day at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling WV had touches of black, white, gold, bringing in a clean and classy feel. They started their day by getting ready with their favorite people, their wedding party could not have been a better group. They were so fun and helpful! Once they were dressed they read their gifted letters before taking a shuttle to the mansion area of the grounds. Here they shared a regal first look on a stately pillared front porch. Krista wore a beautiful fitted silhouette dress with a long dramatic train and plunging v-neck by Alyssa Kristin. Chris wore a fitted gray tux from Generation Tux. After their first look they spent time taking couple’s portraits around the grounds before meeting up with their wedding party for some fun group photos!

Their ceremony took place outside and included a whiskey binding portion, where they poured whiskey into a barrel. The ceremony was short and sweet and once it was done it was time to party!

Their wedding reception took place in the Pine Room with decor that was bold yet minimal and classic. Krista, Chris and their guests enjoyed a plated meal and plenty of homemade cookies before hitting the dance floor for the evening. It was clear that everyone there came to celebrate! It was the perfect day focused on having fun and celebrating and we are so happy for them both! Cheers to the love that brought these two together!
