Abby+Shawn | Autumn Pittsburgh Park Micro-Wedding
Out of everything that has happened in 2020, I can say for certainty that I am so grateful for this year’s beautiful fall colors. The trees began showing off in early September and even still you can catch a glimpse of a few bright yellow leaves. Our October couples lucked out with the intense and vibrant scenery, and Abby and Shawn’s wedding day was no different!
Abby+Shawn met through mutual friends while in school at the University of Pittsburgh. Abby was in a student group which was hosting a salsa dancing event and Shawn's friends brought him along to give it a try. They tried to salsa together but quickly learned neither were very good at salsa. However, they did find they are very good at being together, as they have been together ever since!
Shawn+Abby got engaged over Thanksgiving in 2018. While they were hiking the Appalachian Trail, amidst the natural wonder, Shawn proposed!
They originally planned on tying the knot in June, but like many couples their plans changed. However, they didn’t miss out on a truly special wedding experience. Instead of the original downtown Pittsburgh ceremony and reception, they opted for the Frick Environmental Center and a family member’s home. This brought so much variety to their images, creating a unique day, straying from the traditional vibes of a city wedding. Shifting their plan to this relaxed and sentimental day, allowed Abby+Shawn to fully appreciate each moment throughout the day. This is evident in the photographs as you can see just how at ease they are with one another!
The day was intimate and relaxed, including only their closest family to witness their union. We spent about an hour strolling the grounds of the park while they tenderly doted on one another throughout their portraits. We were in awe with the trees, all showing off their beautiful shades of red, orange and yellows! It was the perfect autumn day! Afterwards, they celebrated with a catered family dinner and lots of homemade wedding cookies from Shawn’s mom. We still can’t believe how welcome and included their families made us feel, while sharing in their special day! Let’s just say we left with a Tupperware full of cookies and a heart full of compliments!
Abby+Shawn, thank-you so much for including us in your wedding day and for trusting us through each step of this process. You both embraced your time in front of our camera’s to the fullest and we are so grateful that you allowed us to serve you whole heartedly. We know that you two have a lifetime of beautiful moments ahead and wish you so much love+happiness together!
