St. Mary's Church Butler, PA Wedding | Angie&Colby
Angie and Colby decided to say I do mid-October, in the heart of fall. Their wedding gave me a chance to go back to my roots in Herman PA. The wedding day took place about five minutes from where I grew up. It included the church my Grandfather was a part of and landscapes I am all too familiar with.
Angie and Colby met while still in high school at a local produce farm and have been dating one another for almost a decade. It was apparent just how much they cherished their more traditional courtship, but they were so ecstatic to finally be married!
During their couple portraits we ventured around the small village of Herman PA. Of course we included Derailleur Bike Shop Café as one of our stops. It’s a favorite place for local and non-locals alike to stop at during trail rides. They offer delicious homemade drinks, soups and other eats. It’s vintage country charm made the perfect backdrop for Angie and Colby to show off their newly wed emotions.
Family is so significant to Angie and Colby, so they were committed to visiting the graves of their grandparents. They took a moment of prayer at each site and this was by far one of the most touching moments I have witnessed at a wedding. I believe it’s so important for us to honor those who are no longer physically here, and I was moved that Angie included this as part of her wedding day.
From the beginning of the day at Angie’s childhood home, up through the reception at the local Herman Fire Hall, there were friends and family helping all along the way; from creating flower arrangements, to setting up the hall, and everything in-between.
The reception was simple but elegant with tones of slate blue and grey. Everyone was there to have a good time, including the many older couples that had years upon years on these newly weds. This was shown during the anniversary dance where many couples had been together over 30 years. Pro-tip for my future brides, if you want to see me cry, include an anniversary dance at your reception. When new love meets that of a life time it always gets me. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
