How to Stay Warm During Your Winter Elopement
Have you ever dreamed about eloping in the winter? Saying your vows on a snow lined trail, surrounded by evergreen trees? Maybe you’ll even need a pair of snowshoes to make the trek! Living in Pennsylvania, it can be hard to avoid winter weather and if you’re like some of our couples, you may choose to totally embrace it instead! When you do, we will be right there with ya, documenting your day + making sure you stay comfortable!
When couples are considering a winter elopement, their biggest concern is how they will stay warm throughout the day. We have learned that adding in car or cabin warmup breaks into your timeline can be a total lifesaver! In addition to those built in breaks, here are three tips to keep you warm and comfortable throughout your entire winter elopement day!
Layer Up
Being intentional with your layers is key. Choose base layers, made from materials such as fleece or wool that will help wick away moisture. If you plan on wearing your dress while hiking, you’ll want to layer with leggings. Nude colored thick leggings with a cozy pair of socks and your hiking boots will be your secret to rocking your wedding attire while staying warm!
Accessorize
Many couples choose to bring a big fluffy blanket. Not only will this help you stay warm, but blankets also make for cozy, snuggly photos. Another must bring accessory is a warm coat! Maybe this is a “made for the outdoors” winter coat or something more chic like a wrap coat with a belt. What you choose will depend on the weather, vibe and setting of your elopement!
Add in Warmth
Adding external warmth by using hand+body warmers makes a huge difference. I like to place them in boots, gloves, coat pockets and even tucked into long underwear. They are such a welcome treat when outdoors in chilly weather. I swear by them and always have extras for our couples!
