Chic Pittsburgh City Elopement - Hotel Monaco, Phipps Conservatory, Mount Washington | Alexa+Patrick
Alexa and Patrick met just before they started their medical residency programs in 2016. Alexa ended up matching with a program at the University of Michigan, where Patrick was a year ahead of her. A few years later, after selling her house, Alexa just happened to move to Patrick’s apartment complex. They had a mutual friend that lived in the complex and they would often all hang out together. This is when Alexa remembers thinking that she liked him a lot. Patrick suggested that they hang out as friends, and have patio beers together. On the second "patio beers" night, they both realized they had great chemistry and compatibility! COVID hit about five months later, after which Patrick basically lived at Alexa’s apartment. The rest you could say is history!
Elopements mean doing things however you want to. Which can look different for each couple. Some want a day spent in nature hiking and others want to enjoy their city and share a nice meal. For Alexa+Patrick they wanted to keep the details of their day minimal and simple.
They began their evening elopement by getting ready together in their hotel room in downtown Pittsburgh at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco. After lovingly helping Alexa into her dress, she helped complete Patrick’s look by pinning on his boutonniere. They then took a short ride to Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood for their ceremony.
Before the ceremony began we took some time to wander around Phipps, admiring all of the plants while taking lots of pictures. They chose to say "I do" at Phipps, because Patrick has an affinity for plants. So it was the logical location choice when thinking of a ceremony space within Pittsburgh.
Their ceremony, witnessed by about 20 of their closest friends+family was short and sweet. It was officiated by Patrick’s brother, making it extra special. Following their ceremony they celebrated with a champagne toast before everyone made their way to Mount Washington. They decided on Monterey Bay Fish Grotto for an upscale reception dinner with one of the best views of the city.
When we arrived at Mount Washington we of course made time for more photographs this time with Pittsburgh as the backdrop. There was no golden hour but the sky was a beautiful gray blue overcast and we had so much fun rushing to beat the incoming rain! As it started to drizzle we quickly finished up and parted ways as they were off to enjoy their celebration!
Alexa+Patrick’s chic Pittsburgh city elopement with touches of downtown, Phipps and views of the city was everything they wanted! We loved spending the evening with them while getting to document this part of their love story!
Congratulations to Alexa+Patrick, wishing them all the love on this next journey as husband and wife!
