Shadow Lake Golf & Racquet Club Wedding | Alexis&Benjy
When Alexis first reached out to me about photographing her wedding I was so excited! We went to high school together and as you grow and travel down new path’s it can be refreshing to reconnect with those from your past. Alexis and Benjy met at the University of Pittsburgh, but Benjy grew up in Rochester NY. This led to them choosing to have their wedding just outside of the city. Being travelers, along with photographing the wedding, my fiancé/second shooter JP and I chose to use the weekend as a mini getaway to celebrate our 7 year anniversary. It was so fun exploring the hidden gems of the area and indulging in the vegan food scene Rochester has to offer! The weekend was bursting with so many lovey dovey vibes!
The wedding day was took place at Shadow Lake Golf & Racquet Club, which was surrounded by beautiful grounds and a large pond. It was an elegant outdoor ceremony with a tented reception…the perfect summer wedding!
Benjy is Jewish and with that there were many traditional aspects to the day. Before the ceremony the couple signed the ketubah (the marriage contract), surrounded by only their closest family. At the end of the wedding ceremony Benjy of course broke the glass followed by the guests shouting mazal tov!
The reception took place at the edge of the pond. The tables were decorated with center pieces handmade by Alexis, which included greenery and childhood photos of the couple. I really loved the unique and personal touch the photos gave to each table.
The guests were there to have a good time and we got down to the likes of “You Shook Me All Night Long” and a group sing along even broke out to “Friends in Low Places”…a secret favored wedding song of mine.
Alexis and Benjy’s wedding day was filled with so many sincerely meaningful moments. It was so wonderful traveling to New York to document this part of their love story! Here’s to the countless years that lay ahead for this devoted softhearted couple!
