Flower Farm Wedding | Isaac+Jordan
I met Isaac a few years back when he started vending at our local farmer’s market. He grows some of the most delicious vegetables and the most beautiful dahlias you’ll ever see! Putting so much care and dedication to everything he grows. So when he reached out about photographing his wedding, I knew it was going to be an extra special one. I really don’t have the words to sum up just how beautiful his and Jordan’s day was. But I’ll try my best. They planned a fall backyard wedding on their farm, hoping for mild weather. Instead it rained, and rained. BUT that did not stop these two from embracing the day and rolling with it. With umbrellas overhead, they started the day by taking a walk to the back portion of their property accompanied by a few loved ones. Here they shared their private vows with one another, both crying and laughing. Just a few short days away from their 12 year anniversary, those vows were filled with a lot of emotion.
From here we made our way back to the house as the rain was really coming down at this point. We had some time before the ceremony began so Jordan’s most logical solution was to have a dance party in the basement while we waited. We need more of this at weddings please!
The ceremony and reception space took place under a large tent in the backyard, adorned with many flowers grown right on that very land. Over a 1000 dahlias were used in the creation of the centerpieces, ceremony arch and the grooms’ boutonnieres. The bursts of colors everywhere honestly made us forget about the rain, and really brightened up the spaces!
The ceremony was short but so meaningful, officiated by Isaac’s sister. We love when couples invite a family member to officiate (learn more about how to do this here) as it makes it that much more personalized. After the ceremony, Jordan and Isaac were down to brave the rain and we headed off to the flower fields for some romantic, bright flower filled couple’s portraits. The rainy vibes paired with the array of flowers made for some really unique vibrant wedding portraits! We were so grateful that they were willing to play in the rain for a bit!
Once we walked back to the reception space, we all dried off and joined cocktail hour since it was in full swing. This took us directly into a fabulous dinner! All of the produce used was grown by Isaac+Jordan and wow was it delicious. A carefully curated menu created by the Merrie Chef featured a variety of tasty options including jalapeño poppers, fennel garlic rolls with honey lavender butter, beet salad, and veggie tarts plus so, so much more!
After everyone enjoyed dinner, a few loved ones shared toasts before the grooms shared their first dance. Once formalities were finished it was party time. The dance floor was packed and everyone was there to have a good time and celebrate this long awaited union! As everyone was dancing I noticed a pink sky off in the distance, the rain had slowed to a light mist and there was a sunset!! We quickly got Isaac+Jordan and we all went to the top of the hill, for a very surprising golden hour! The power lines go right through their property and are admittedly a part of their everyday lives. So instead of trying to shoot around them, we fully embraced them. The resulting set of photos are some of my new favorites. The beautiful pink sky, the powerline filled landscape and the relaxed love emanating from these two, just created some really special shots.
Getting to photograph Isaac+Jordan’s wedding day was truly an honor. The people they chose to share their day with were some of the best and the intentionality that went into each detail was unmatched. The flowers were all grown by them, the produce that was fed to their guests, again all them. The flowers on the cookies and hors d'oeuvres from another flower friend. All of the celebrations taking place on the land that they have made into a home and prosperous farm. Insanely grateful they invited us to document it all.
Here’s to wishing Isaac+Jordan a lifetime filled with nothing but happiness and beautiful flowers!
